Sharp, naked without a sheath

You're too sharp. That's your trouble. You're like a drawn sword. Sharp, naked without a sheath. You cut well. But good swords are kept in their sheaths.

"Sanjuro" aura été mon sixième Kurosawa de l'été.

Toshiro Mifune y incarne un samouraï vagabond à la fine lame et aux manières grossières.
Un jeu d'acteur d'ailleurs repris par Clint Eastwood... ne serait-ce que dans "Pour une poignée de dollars", adapté de "Yojimbo" (dont "Sanjuro" est la suite).

Si le ton du film est à la comédie (voire au burlesque), le duel final revêt une intensité dramatique particulière : c'est d'ailleurs le seul passage où le sang coulera jaillira
(dans une gerbe spectaculaire)

Takeshi Kitano reprendra ce procédé sanguinolant quelques années plus tard (avec des effets numériques) dans son Zatoichi.

(Le film appuierait sans doute plus mon propos que cette simple capture d'écran)
