I'm more of a Stax girl myself

Fantastique film de Jim Jarmush dans lequel les amants Adam (Tom Hiddleston) et Eve (Tilda Swinton) promènent leur swag tout autour du globe. Il faut dire qu'être des vampires centenaires, figurer aux côtés et parmi les plus grands artistes de l'humanité et porter des lunettes de soleil en toute circonstance donne une certaine contenance.

L'ambiance sonore est une merveille, tant par ces riffs psychés cradingues chers à Jarmusch que par la voix enveloppante de Tom Hiddleston. Malgré ça, le film sait conserver une certaines légèreté, comme lors de cette virée nocturne en voiture à Détroit, territoire d'Adam

- So this is your wilderness. Detroit.
- Everybody left.
- What's that?
- It's the Packard plant where they once built the most beautiful cars in the world.Finished.
- But this place will rise again.
- Will it?
- Yeah. There's water here. And when the cities in the South are burning, this place will bloom.
- Do you wanna see the Motown Museum? Although it's not much to look at from the outside.
- I'm more of a Stax girl myself.
- Actually, there is something I could show you. It's not far.
- There. That's Jack White's house.
- Oh. I love Jack White.
- That's where he grew up.
- Oh. Little Jack White. Nice.
- Do you know he's actually his mother's seventh son?
- That figures.

Draining people's energy

Co-écrite par Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords), What We Do in the Shadows est une série documentaire parodique (un "mockumentary"... façon the Office ou Spinal Tap quoi) dans laquelle on suit les tribulations de quatre vampires collocataires à New York City. Trois d'entre eux correspondent en tout point à l'image qu'on se fait de cette créature de fiction... Et puis il y a Colin, peut-être le plus puissant d'entre tous :

My name is Colin Robinson. And I am what's known as a psychic vampire. Or energy vampire.

This is my office. Also known as the hunting ground. Energy vampires drain people's energy merely by talking to them. We either bore you with a long conversation, or we enrage you. In fact, you probably know an energy vampire. We're the most common kind of vampire. We are day-walkers, not affected by the sun. And we are the only kind of vampire that can drain another vampire's energy. It's very cool.
